Issues Installing AccountEdge

This support article explains the possible causes for not being able to install AccountEdge.

If you are having trouble opening the software after installation please this article.

Common Installation Issues

There are many reasons that AccountEdge (like any program) could have trouble installing on an individual machine. The most common causes are:

  • Not having permission to install the software on your machine (not being an Administrator)
  • Your Operating System not being able to support the version of AccountEdge software you own (You can find a list of supported OS versions for each version of AccountEdge here
  • Other software preventing you from being able to install AccountEdge

If you are logged into your machine as an Administrator and you are on a supported OS the most likely problem is that you have an Antivirus or Security software that is preventing the installation. To be able to install properly you may need to disable to this software. The software that can cause these problems includes, but is not limited to:

  • Webroot Antivirus
  • MacKeeper
  • AVG Antivirus
  • Avast Antivirus
  • McAfee Antivirus or Security Software

For information on how to disable the software you should contact the manufacturer of your software or an IT professional.

While rare, it's possible to receive the error message Fatal Error 1603 during the process of installing AccountEdge. This error is related to the Operating System and proper permission on the computer. You can find instructions on how to resolve this on Microsoft's web site.
