Background

To uninstall FileConnect you need to delete several files. This page will walk you through how to delete FileConnect for your version of the software and then reinstall it (if so desired).

To Remove (Uninstall) Fileconnect 2014 or Later:

  1. Verify FileConnect is not running:
    1. At the top left of your screen click the little Apple icon.
    2. Select System Preferences from that drop down.
    3. Click the AccountEdge button in the bottom left of System Preferences.
    4. If FileConnect is running "Press the Stop FileConnect" button to turn it off.
  2. With FileConnect off click anywhere on your desktop so at the top left of your screen next to the Apple icon it says "Finder."
  3. At the top of your screen to the right of where it says "Finder" select the "Go" menu.
  4. From the Go drop down select "Computer."
  5. In the finder window that opens to your Computer folder, you should see your Hard Drive (by default called Macintosh HD).
  6. After clicking into Macintosh HD (or Equivalent) open the Library folder and delete the following:
    • In the folder: /Library/Preferences, Delete the file: com.acclivity.fileconnect.plist
    • In the folder: /Library/PreferencePanes, Delete the file: AccountEdge.prefpane
    • In the folder: /Library/LaunchDaemons, Delete the file: com.acclivity.fileconnect.plist
    • In the folder: /Library/Application Support/Acclivity, delete FileConnect and FileConnectHelper
  7. After deleting these files follow steps 3-5 to go back to the main Library folder. Go through the User folder to the Shared User folder. To the Library. To Application Support.

Reinstalling FileConnect

If you are using the full AENE install: Launch the AccountEdge NE dmg. When you open the .dmg there is a folder called "Extras." Inside of this is the FileConnect standalone installer. Run this installer. Alternatively, if you are using the standalone FileConnect link you can download FileConnect and then drop it into the /Library/Application Support/Acclivity folder.
