Registration
In AccountEdge 2010 and later (US) and 2009 and later for Canadian versions, you will be asked to register your software upon initial installation. To register your AccountEdge, you will need your Serial Number. If you just purchased and are new to AccountEdge, you will have received your Serial Number in an email message. If you are upgrading from an older version, you will continue to use your current Serial Number.
Why do I need to register my software?
The registration process protects your software license against misuse while informing us of who the legal owner of the software is through a seamless notification process.
How do I register my AccountEdge?
After launching AccountEdge, click on the word Registration in the lower right-hand corner of the Welcome window.
Is my company information secure during online registration?
The online registration only registers your serial number and company information with our database insuring that software piracy cannot occur. Your company and contact information remain secure.
When do I need to register my software?
You have 30 days from the installation date to register your software.
What happens if I don’t register my software within the 30 day period?
You will not be able to access your company file until you have registered your software.
Where is my serial number?
If you are a new user, locating your serial number depends on how you purchased AccountEdge. If you purchased a physical CD in a box, either from AccountEdge.com or a reseller, the serial number is located on the label of the CD case. If you purchased a download of AccountEdge, you will have received a confirmation sales order email with the serial number listed; then a short time thereafter, an email with a link to the download, which again lists your serial number.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of AccountEdge, you would continue to use your current serial number. If you don't know it, there are a couple of ways to find your serial number. In pre-2010 versions of AccountEdge, while you have your company file open, select Company Information from the Setup dropdown menu (at the top of the screen). Your serial number will be displayed in the Company Information window. In AccountEdge versions 2010 or later (2009 or later in Canada), you can find the serial number of any registered product by clicking the link at the bottom, right-hand corner of the Welcome window, where it reads, "This Product Is Registered To". Clicking on this link will open the Registration window, where the registered company information, including the twelve digit serial number, will be displayed. Additionally, if you purchased the upgrade as a download, you will have received a confirmation sales order email with the serial number listed; then a short time thereafter, an email with a link to the download, which again lists your serial number.
If you've already established a customer login (My Account) on the accountedge.com website, you can log in to review your customer information, which includes your product serial number(s). Your customer login is available by clicking on the login link at the top of the accountedge.com web page.

How do I register my software if I don’t have an internet connection?

When I click Register, nothing happens and I'm still on the Registration window...
You'll need to log in with a user ID that has Admin rights on the machine. If your user does not have Admin rights on the machine, the application can not save your license file.
After I registered my software, I received a confirmation window that showed a Machine ID number. What is this number used for?
The Machine ID number is a unique number to identify computer that the software is now registered to.
What is the Deactivate button used for?
When the registration of your software is successful, the software license is also registered to the computer the software is installed on. If you wish to change the computer, you must deactivate the registration of the software on the existing computer to enable you to install and register the software on another computer.
Depending on the version of your software, your 12-digit customer serial number is stored in your Company File. To find your 12 digit serial number in versions prior to 2010, choose Company Information from the Setup menu.
For 2010 versions (and later):
Windows: select Registration from the Help menu while in the company file.
Mac: select Registration from the AccountEdge menu (next to the Apple in upper left-hand corner of screen).
