Outlook Email Issues after 13.0.5 and 13.0.7 update
Sending email from AccountEdge sometimes results in recipients receiving a winmail.dat file rather than the intended PDF file.
This issue is resolved in AccountEdge 2011, Build 15.0.6. So, updating to this Version and Build will completely resolve the issue.
If you haven't upgraded to AccountEdge 2011, Build 15.0.6, you will need to follow the instructions below to address the issue:
Release 13.0.5 and 13.0.7 address the way Premier Accounting 2009 interacts with Outlook. These releases resolve an issue where users were presented with a security message each time an email is sent. Depending on the way the Outlook account is set up, two issues may occur. With each issue, you may convert back to the original email implementation, prior to installing the update.
If after installing the 13.0.5 and 13.0.7 update, you are receiving an error message “...there is an incompatibility with the outlook mail configuration...”, you may revert back to the original email implementation by following the instructions listed below.
Also, under certain Outlook account setups including Gmail accounts, when sending a PDF attachment, the recipient's attachment may come through named as winmail.dat. Renaming the file with a .pdf extension will allow them to open the PDF. However, if this becomes an issue for you or your Mac customers, you may revert back to the original implementation following the instructions below.
To revert back to original email implementation, follow the instructions below:
- Close your Premier Accounting 2009 company file.
- Open the Premier 2009 application folder located on your C:
drive.
- Open the MapiEx Diabler folder located in the Premier 2009
application folder.
- Cut and Paste the MapiEx Disable.txt file directly into the
Premier 2009 folder.
- Open the Premier 2009 application and open your company file.
After completing this procedure, the error message will no longer appear. However, you may have to select OK for each security message that may appear when emailing more than one form.
