Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Compatibility

AccountEdge 2010

Accountedge 2010 is Snow Leopard Compatible.

AccountEdge 2008 and 2009

AccountEdge and AccountEdge Network Edition 2008 and 2009 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard with the following known issues.

  • Address Book. With the new version of Address Book in 10.6, contacts created with a company name and without a contact name are displayed in the list as "No Name". This is the case for contacts manually entered into Address Book or using the sync feature. We believe this is an issue with the new version of the Address Book and have reported it to Apple. When syncing the Card File in AccountEdge with the Address Book, if a new Card has only a company name without a contact name, it too will be displayed as No Name in the list of contacts in Address Book. If you select the Edit button on the contact and then click the button again to leave Edit mode, it will automatically check the Company checkbox and display the company name in the list instead of No Name.
  • Ghost Window. If you have the Task Drawer opened and open another company file from the File menu, a ghost Command Center window is created and hidden behind your Command Center. This only occurs when the Task Drawer is open and this ghost window isn't useable. This occurs whenever AccountEdge needs to close a company file in order to open another. For example, when restoring a backup, creating a backup or opening a different file from the File menu.

FirstEdge v3

FirstEdge v3 is compatible with Snow Leopard. Listed below is the only known issue at this time:

  • Address Book. With the new version of Address Book in 10.6, contacts created with a company name but not contact name are displayed in the list as "No Name". We believe this is an issue with the new version of the Address Book and have reported it to Apple.

Earlier Versions of AccountEdge Software

AccountEdge and AccountEdge Network Edition 2007, FirstEdge v2, and earlier versions of each software line have not been tested on Snow Leopard as we only intend to certify more recent versions of the software. The following are known issues with Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6.

  • Email. Customers using Mail v3.0 later, sending batches of email may receive an IO Error -17 in Reset Routine. File is Busy message after the first email is sent. It is suggested to send email invoices and statements one at time.
  • Address Book Sync. Some users have reported issues syncing AccountEdge with Mac Address Book where the sync with Address Book would cause the application to crash. The 2008 and 2009 version of AccountEdge addresses this issue. It is recommended that customers either upgrade or refrain from using the Address Book sync feature under Mac OS 10.5 or 10.6. It is further recommended that customers keep a back up of both their Address Book and their AccountEdge company file.
  • Back Up. If the Save button is disabled while backing up your company file, change the backup file name to be less than 26 characters.
