Import / Export
You can import and export tab-delimited or comma-separated text files.
A tab-delimited file is one in which the fields of a record are
separated by tabs (">" represents a tab):
Smith > Bill > 100 Main St. > Rockaway > NJ >
07866
A comma-separated file is one in which the fields of a record
are separated by commas:
Smith,Bill,100 Main St.,Rockaway, NJ, 07866
Comma-separated input files may also have the format:
"Smith","Bill","100 Main St.","Rockaway","NJ", "07866"
If, when attempting to import my text file and after selecting the file to import, nothing appears in the Import Fields column on the left side of the screen, then the import file isn't in the correct format. Be sure that you're importing tab-delimited or comma-separated text files and make sure you selected the proper format selection on the first Import File screen.
If your spreadsheet program doesn't allow you to save tab-delimited or comma-separated files, you can open your file in a text editor or any program that allows you to save your data as a tab-delimited or comma separated file, then import it into AccountEdge.
At the end of the Import process, you received a message indicating the number of records imported and the number of records skipped. You need to open the text file listed on that message to determine the exact reason why a record was not imported. There will be a number before every import record. A negative number indicates an error that will not allow the record to be imported. A positive number indicates a warning which means that the record was imported but there may be information missing. If you look at the end of the text file, you will see all errors and warnings listed, with an explanation of the error or warning.
