FileConnect
FileConnect Definition
FileConnect is what directs the AccountEdge Network Edition data between workstations and your company file. This application is started and options can be set using a new preference found in your Mac OS X System Preferences. You will find it in your System Preferences with the name AccountEdge.
You can view FileConnect as the “traffic cop” that directs information to and from your company file. You must have FileConnect running on the host computer(s). There is no need to have it running on any of the workstations that are not hosting a company file. FileConnect installs when you install the AccountEdge Network Edition. If you are not installing the whole program on the host machine, you can do a custom install to install just the FileConnect System Preference.
Start FileConnect:
- Go to your Mac OS X System Preferences.
- Click the icon that says AccountEdge under the 'Other' section of your system preference window.
- Click the button that says “Start FileConnect”.
- You will be prompted to enter your computer's Administrator password; enter that and select OK. Now, when you select Open Company File from the Network Edition Welcome screen, you will see this host computer listed, along with the company files available for you to open on this host. Remember that company files must be located in HD/Library/Application Support/AccountEdge NE/Databases in order for them to be available to be opened.
Can't Start Fileconnect:
- If you have copied or transferred your program from one machine to another, important components of FileConnect will not be installed. Therefore you cannot start FileConnect. To fix this, you must trash the installation you copied over and do a fresh install from your installation disk.
- FileConnect 2009 and 2010 will not execute on old Mac Operating systems. Mac OS 10.4 or newer is required.
