PtoP.rsrc Error
22 February 2012
Some customers have received an error when attempting to upgrade their FirstEdge company file(s) to AccountEdge Basic. The message reads: Unable to locate PtoP.rsrc.
What causes the error:
This is a resource file of the Upgrade Assistant. This error
usually occurs because
- The Upgrade Assistant is in the wrong location, or
- You do not have the correct file and folder permissions to access the resource file.
You can attempt to resolve the issue on your Mac by Duplicating (Cmd-D) AccountEdge Basic in the /Applications folder. Then use the duplicate version of AccountEdge Basic. The functional capability will be exactly the same.
If the problem isn't resolved:
- Verify the Upgrade Assistant has the necessary file:
- Verify AccountEdge is in the /Applications folder, and its folder is correctly named
- Verify the location of the Upgrade Assistant. It should be in the AccountEdge folder, or in the AccountEdge Resources folder
- In the AccountEdge folder, Control-click (or right-click) on the Upgrade Assiatant, and select Show Package Contents
- Navigate to the Contents/Resources folder
- Confirm existence of PtoP.rsrc
- Verify the name of the hard drive is Macintosh HD; if problem persists and the name is not Macintosh HD, change name (using Get Info) to Macintosh HD
