Now changing to a new Macbook Pro (Lion OS) from my vintage Imac 10.3.9.

Can anyone tell me if this is going to be easy, difficult, expensive or impossible?

WIll Lion run the old MYOB program (2005 version 5 release 8.5.0), or will I need an upgrade from MYOB or a whole new accounting software program?

Thanks for any advise you can offer!

Lion will not run any PowerPC program.

Highlight the MYOB program's icon and choose File > Get Info. In the "Kind" section, see if it says "Application (PowerPC)." If it does, then Lion will not run it. You'd have to upgrade.

Although not tested, the MYOB v5 software will probably not run correctly on Lion, if at all. The new version of AccountEdge is compatible with Lion. You can purchase the upgrade from our website at www.accountedge.com or call customer service at 800-322-6962. After installing AccountEdge on your Lion machine, you would need to move your data file over and upgrade it for use with v11. If you call in, we can assist you with that process.

Have just upgraded to Lion, and my old version file of account edge V.5 does not work. I upgraded, and each time I try to upgrade the file to V11, I get the following message:
"Upgrade is unable to process company file -1753"

    What do I do?

If needed I can have someone from our department contact you in regards to getting our company file services department to upgrade your file. It should be $30 for each file that needs to be upgraded.

I just purchased the MacBook Pro and I need an accounting program that runs with Loin. There must be something out there that will work without all the fuss that I have been reading about. Please recommend something that works with Loin and works in Canada.

    Thank you.

AccountEdge runs on Lion; I'm running AccountEdge 2011 v15.0.10B.

Dunno whether that's usable in Canada...

    Thanks,

iI asked for the trial edition, it said it would be e-mailed, however that was hours ago and it hasn't shown up yet. I am going to give it a try and see want happens.

Have you checked your junk/spam folder?

I've also just had someone from our team email you the download link.

Thank you for your help. I received the email and I downloaded the trial edition. Now I just have to play around with it. So far it looks like it just might work for me.

    Thanks again,
