I have only used QB on my Mac 10.4.11. I am setting up a new business. Does anyone know if this is easier to use than QB ?

AccountEdge 2011 will work on OS X 10.4 and PowerPC however the latest version that has so far only been released in the US (AccountEdge Pro v2012) requires an Intel Based Mac and 10.5 or later.

If you are wanting to do full payroll you must always have the latest version (2012) to have the latest tax tables so it would not work on a G5 Mac.
Ease of use can be very subjective. My opinion having used QB briefly years ago and having used MYOB/AE for years is that I prefer AE. Certainly I know AE better now (and its quirks) but beyond that I found QB confusing because it tried to hide more aspects of the accounting. I did not know much about accounting then and I found it more difficult to learn what was gong on with QB. MYOB/AE made more sense to me because it did not hide what it was doing and seemed to more closely resemble basic paper ledger accounting.
There will be a learning curve for either one, but you may want to try a demo of both side by side and see which makes more sense to you. Not just the one you can get more entries in right off the bat.

Thanks for the insight. I don't do much payroll so 2011 should work.

    John,
Try using the upgrade assistant first instead of trying to open the file with the program itself.
How old is the file, does it have a .myo extension or a .pls extension?
