You can use jobs or catagories.
Jobs can be assigned to a line itemwhile catagories are assigned to the whole transaction.

So if I'm running a construction job and want to create a transaction in order to write a check to my plumber, can I assign a category to the transaction (e.g. "plumbing") and a client name as well?

Sorry if this is a duplicate - Macmail never reported it as sent mail.

I support a non-profit which is required to assign classes (and sub-classes and sub-classes of sub-classes, etc.). Generally line items need to be classed in primary classes such as "Administration", "Programs", and "Fundraising". If "categories" can only be assigned to a "transaction" and not a line item, this will not suffice. I would not think "jobs" would be appropriate. Reports need to be generated with (and without) filters using each (or multiple) classes. If my client was to obtain AccountEdge, do you have any solution for this. Incidentally, all non-profits must use "classes" to adhere to IRS rules and to complete their annual tax returns (IRS form 990). Thanks, Russ
