Hi Robert:
When the trial version installs, in the AccountEdge folder that installs on your hard drive there's a purplish icon called Upgrader that's meant to upgrade your MYOB or accountedge data file. Honestly I find it's much easier to open AccountEdge and at the Welcome window - click Browse and find your old data file. When you try to open it with the newer AccountEdge version - you'll get a message that this isn't a current version file - would you like to upgrade? If you click through the prompts - the program will create a copy of the file and import all your old data into the new file format. It locates the newly created company file in the AccountEdge 2011 folder. It works pretty seamlessly.
Thanks
Michele

Several years back, we tried to convert from MYOB Canada to Intuit's Quickbooks, which was also supposed to "seamlessly" convert the old MYOB file. Found it worked poorly, and Quickbooks difficult to learn/use - finally gave up. Can you comment on any issues/user experiences with the conversion to AccountEdge, that we should be aware of?
Thanks

I am converted, and just finished doing the input of days lost because my
backup was aged.
So far I found to very small issues, and the Accountedge people were quick
to assist.
I am happy so far, it is early to give a blanket approval.
There are a lot of new features which I have yet to try.
Regards
Bob

Hey Bob,
Thanks for putting your two cents in. It is appreciated.
Steven - converting to a new software is never the easiest thing, and we understand that. The only real "issues" that people have is that not all of your data will easily convert. Perhaps Robert can speak to that from experience. The only other thing I'd say that I speak to people about is making sure you consciously are looking at AccountEdge as a new product. Anytime you're learning something new, you have to view it as new. What I mean is softwares, though they both "do accounting", they do it in different ways. Doing one thing in one software will not be done in the exact same way in the other. Keeping that in mind will help you keep your sanity.
And if you find you're struggling with the trial version or you decide to purchase it and need something, we're here to help.
