Looking into buying accountedge for my photography business. The videos and screenshots look great. I am looking for any news on how soon we can expect a 2012 version. From what I've read online, most versions have been released in the winter close to the holidays. Is there any news you can tell us?
Thanks!
David

    Hello David,

We don't pre-announce releases so I don't have any news that I can tell you. But, historically, you are correct in that Acclivity has released a new version towards the end of the year almost every year.

Just a few questions about version 2012.
    1. WIll 2012 have the ability to do true departmental accounting?
    2. When will the AccountEdge iPad/iPhone app be available in Canada?

    Hi Pete,

We just released the AccountEdge Canada 2011 in July. We intend to release the 2012 version of Canada around the Summer of 2012 but there is no official date as of yet. Currently, the AccountEdge Mobile for Canada has been released and is available with the current AccountEdge Canada 2011 product.

    Thanks Mike.

What about the departmental accounting? Is that a near term possibility?

    Sorry Pete,

Forgot that part of your question. At this time, there are no plans to have this as part of the 2012 release. I would definitely be sure to Send Feedback as well just to put your request on file. I always write them down as well.

I'm in the brink of buying an accounting software for my wife's immigration consulting services and my concern is if we need to pay for an upgrade when you release the 2012 (mac) in Canada.

    Hello Joel,

We do say that customers are entitled to a free upgrade if the software is bought within 30 days of a new release. The AccountEdge Canada for 2012 is not expected to be released sooner than July 2012. So if you were to purchase now, then you would need to buy an upgrade to the 2012 product if you wish to upgrade.

And what about the US version. Any new reports on a 2012 version soon?

No official release date scheduled yet. I hate to say "likely" soon but historically we release new versions by the end of the year.

Let me ask you this. Would I be sure, if I purchased 2011 now, that I would get a free upgrade to 2012? I too would like to upgrade but would like to stay current for more than 3 weeks.

    Hi James,

I'd hate to guarantee it only because you can never guarantee when the release of the software is until it's ready. But, I'd say you're likely pretty safe in buying it now. I'd rather just recommend that you wait until it's released so you don't have to upgrade now and then upgrade again in a few weeks. Unless there's a real need to get it now (for example, your computer crashed that had an old version installed and you now don't have any product and need to run your business), I'd just wait for the upgrade to come before buying so you only have to do it once.
