iWork integration?/ network question
I am getting ready to update the Accounting solution for our small business and I would like to move away from the Quickbooks we have been using since 2007. We run an all Mac paradigm and like that AccountEdge Pro is a Mac first solution. In the videos I have seen so far it looks like you offer good integration with Word and Excel. We relay on the iWork suite exclusively, are you planing on integration into Pages or Numbers in the future?
On a separate issue. If we get AE network addition and install the core program on our Mac mini as the Host and have one user accessing it from a Client is that included in the Licensing or do we need to purchase and additional license for that Client unit?
Thanks, Kevin

Hello Kevin,
I'm glad to hear you've been watching some videos already and that they've been helpful. Although we would like to and probably will add iWork support at some time in the future, it will not be in the next release so we don't have an ETA for you.
In regards to AccountEdge Network Edition, if you install the core program on your Mac Mini, the only thing you need to do in order to allow that machine to host a file is turn on FileConnect and put the file onto that machine. Without buying an Additional Workstation License, you will not be able to use the host machine to access the file, but with FileConnect, it can still host it. You would only need the licenses for the client machines that need to run the application.
Let me know if that makes sense and if you have any further questions.

Hi Mike,
I am glad to hear that iWork is on the list even it's not right away. I am looking to run the business side of things a seamless as possible, So we can reduce repeated data entry and off a more polished service to our clients.
The description for the Network does make sense, and sounds like it would work for what I am thinking. The Mac Mini would just be used as a server no monitor on it, and a MacBook would be the Client unit. I would feel better if I did not carry my Financial around with me all the time. As for now I will keep exploring the tutorials. AccountEdge and Daylite are really looking like the winning team.
Thank,
Kevin

Too bad that iWork isn't going to be on the 2012 release...I could wait until the new year to purchase new computers & applications but didn't want to spend all that money to MS for their Office Suite when iWork is so much less expensive and does everything I need. For being a Mac first application you missed the mark on this one!

Same feeling here. Exploring your products and I pretty much like them - will start up my business (still in planning) and am looking for an accounting (ledger) solution.
I understand how iWorks would not be on the top priority list, however, it would make a great addition and a no brainer for Mac users to chose you over other competitors. Please, keep us posted and if possible, make it slip into your roadmap.

I know that there are a lot of things going on under the hood of each application but I find it curious that AccountEdge could not easily handle the iWork software if it can handle the comparatively Byzantine MS Office suite.
If it matters to anyone, the iWork applications (Pages, Numbers and Keynote) quite seamlessly convert Office files on the fly. For example, if I get a Word document attached to an email (God, I hate that), it automatically opens in Pages. (I don't have MS Office installed and Pages is the default word processor on my system.)
By the way as a former Office user who finally got tired beating himself up, I just love using the Apple software. It's much more intuitive and still very powerful. It also is available for iOS and since AccountEdge is touting it's iOS (iPhone and iPad) software, it seems a natural to me.

+1 for iWork compatibility!
