I am in the process of purchasing a brand new MAC. Do I need to install all the previous versions on Accounting Edge in order to install the 2010 upgrade? My account # is AA00379 and Serial # 102250361071

No Arthur, you should not have to install your previous version. However, if you want to "upgrade' the company file (normally it's a .myo or .pls file format) you were using you need to have that somewhere on the hard drive (desktop is a good spot) of your new Mac. When you install the 2010 version and try to open your old file - it will recognize that it's not in the 2010 file format and prompt you through the upgrade process. Just remember - once you've upgraded it to the 2010 format - it's going to ask you to save that newly upgraded file somewhere. Just remember where you save it.

I just bought the new Mac version and am trying to upgrade my old MYOB Plus9 company files which are .pls format. The mac evidently thinks they are iTunes playlist files and are grayed out so I can't open them. Is there a way to get around this?

Change the .pls extension on your company file to .myo and see if it will upgrade it then. Sometimes the open dialog box has a check box (at the bottom I think) that says "show all files" or something like that.. in case the company file is grayed out and un-selectable. Checking that box will make it available to open.

Got it, Thanks Dan. Is there a way to do the same with customized
invoice forms? They are so tedious to build. Seems like the new ones
are just text files and my old ones are .frm

    Hi Max,

Sometimes you can upgrade the older customized forms, other times it's not possible. Especially, if you are coming from PC to Mac, or Mac to PC. Your customized forms in MYOB Plus probably won't upgrade to the new format.

    Hi,

I want to change from a PC to a Mac. I am presently using MYOB Accounting Plus Version 11
to handle all my accounting. Is it possible to transfer all the data over to a Mac? I know I would have to purchase Account Edge. My operating system on the PC is Vista but I could transfer the data to a PC with Windows XP. Can this be done and how complicated is it?

    Thanks,

    Lynne

Yes. You can buy an upgrade to Account Edge for Mac and save paying the full price. Once installed on your new Mac, transfer over your data file (pls) and change the .pls to .myo. Otherwise the Mac will think it's an iTunes file. Account Edge will open it and update it to the upgraded format. Save it where you won't lose it. (see earlier in this thread)

    Hi Lynn

When doing what Max suggests, be sure to call 1-800-322-6962 and talk to the sales department. They will change your old PC license to a Mac license.

    I hope that helps.

    Hi,

I think we are going to stay with a PC and upgrade
our old version of Accounting Plus version 11 to Account Edge.

    Thanks for your help.

I have a MAC G3 with AccountEdge Version 4. I have purchased a new HP with Window 7. I want to be able to take my MAC AccountEdge backup and transfer it over to the new computer. How do I do this?

You can transfer your data over from your Mac to a PC by using a Flash Drive or a CD/DVD. You can also Email the file to yourself as well. Below is a link to our Knowledge Base on how to upgrade company files.

    Dear Simon.

    Excellent, thank you very much.

Here is another one for you.  I have an old MAC G3 with all my small business accounting on it, and AccountEdge version 4.  The internal Zip Drive became defunct several weeks ago and is unusable for backups or anything else (so I am not presently backing up!)  The CD drive is read only.  There is no e-mail on this computer, and attempts to add e-mail yesterday ran into problems with old or missing software, and connection problems.

I do have an external Zip drive for another MAC, but the connector does not match the MAC G3.

I want to get my data off the old MAC G3 and transfer it to my new HP PC with Windows 7.  I have ordered the new AccountEdge V 19 for Windows and will receive it this week.

I took my computer to an Apple repairman, and after several attempts, including an attempt to replace the internal Zip with an old internal Zip from another G3, he gave up.

Do you know of a way to connect an external Zip drive to an old G3 with internal Zip drive?  Do you have any other ideas on how I can get the data off this computer so that I can upgrade to the new HP with Windows?

Can you pass this around the lunch table with the other Wizards?

Thanks so much for your courtesy.

    Best regards,

    Celia Patrick

Install dropbox Patrick, put all your data into there and then install it on your HP and get everything from dropbox

How old of a G3? a beige G3 with SCSI drives and no USB?
A G3 iMac, or other G3 that would have USB? OS 9? OS X?

Internet & dropbox as mentioned above.
If you have USB and OS X just use a thumb drive (formatted for PC - FAT32 so the HP will read it)
If you have USB and OS 9 use a thumb drive but it may need to be Mac formatted - then you would need to find an interim Mac OSX computer to copy the files to - reformat the thumb drive and copy back so the HP will see it (Unless Win7 added Mac format support).
If you do not have USB and cannot get on the internet and use dropbox... you need to get someone geeky enough to to add a USB PCI card (if your mac can take it), pull your Hard Drive and put it in another Mac or external enclosure, connect your mac to another mac ( viain apple talk & serial port if you had to) etc etc

I just bought Accounting Edge 2005. My hope was it would convert a company file of 15 years from Windows Accounting Edge 2006 backwards to 2005. It won't and I should have known. I know it will convert from Windows to mac but not from 2006 to 2005...or that's how it seems. Does anyone have or know of an upgrade for a licensed version of Accounting Edge 2005 to 2006 for mac?...which Accounting Edge is. Thank you.

Does anyone know someone who would sell an install of Accounting Edge 2006 (for mac)? Either would sell the CD or sell me an install and I'd send the CD back.

    Thanks.

    Hi Dave,

Might I ask why exactly you're only looking to work with AccountEdge 2006 instead of purchasing an upgrade to the latest version?
