Transaction numbers...
Hello AEM'ers,
We're trying to determine the best way to let you assign
transaction numbers to the various sales and spend money
transactions in AEM. We've had some feedback in these discussions
about folks' dislike of the current way (starting at no. 1), but if
you had a choice, how would you like to customize the transaction
numbers in AEM? Keep in mind, it may not be possible to keep your
mobile transaction numbers in sequence with your desktop
transaction numbers, for various reasons, so we thought we'd start
at the beginning, see what you wanted, and then see if we can find
a great solution for (almost) everyone....
We'd like to hear your feedback on this as we research future releases....thanks for your input.

Todd,
Dropbox seems like an antique in this day and age of technology. With WIfi everywhere it is shocking that it cannot be synced without a third party involved. I can't believe that you can not sync your phone to AEM by plugging it in and downloading everything that way. I am a one man crew, so the worry of duplicating invoice numbers, is not a problem for me. I think, if people had to pay a little bit for the app, so that it would work wirelessly rather than the Dropbox method, they would probably do it. Hopefully you can figure out something soon, otherwise I will delete the app. Superb idea, just doesn't work for me the way it is.

did a trial and the inability to delete orders and the supposed invoices(there is no way to create an invoice, only and order or quote) is bad. Also the whole invoice number starting at 000001 is horrible! this causes havoc for accountng.

Hi Paul,
You've hit on several issues that are pet peeves of mine as well, and we need to (and will) do a better on all these, including the sorting you mentioned in your other posting.
Invoices can be created for time and service type sales, but only orders and quotes for items sales. That is as designed so we can be assured the inventory is available for sale, so we record the order or quote in AEM, sync, and then let you process it into an invoice in AED where we can check inventory levels.
As for transaction numbers, how would you like to be able to number or auto number your AEM transactions? As you can see from this thread, there isn't much discussion on this topic, and we're all ears...

I would prefer the ability of a custom sales number assignment with perhaps an automated number showing up at the conception of that sales event. Although I know your product caters to the audience at large, my particular nomenclature of sales numbers serve as an identifier to my client and the services being provided and PO numbers all in one. A "constant" throughout my sales in progress and invoices. I'm a one man show however and this works for me, I'm sure a fault could be found in that system in circumstances of larger scales. Regardless, I'd simply like the cusomabilty of sales numbers.
Could an automated suffix be added to any duplicate numbers at the synch that could include an "m" (for mobile...) that could delineate? Number input could in limited in AEM to allow for such a suffix.
Just some thought...

Hi Kelly,
Can you give me an example of your typical sales invoice number? While your case may not be typical, we're open to all feedback on this topic.
Thanks

JS234T...
JS = client name: John Smith
234 = last 3 digits of client's address: 1234 Anywhere, Anytown, etc
T = product / service being sold: Tile (I'm a flooring contractor), others include "C" for carpet, "W" for wood, you get the idea.
I'll create a job for the client that does not use the alpha suffix and only use the suffix on sales orders and PO's alike. It's a simple system that I have used for 10 to 15 years that I have only run into 3 or 4 conflicts total. I do about 750k to a 1mil in peak years with 600k to 700k my yearly average at 5 to 7k per average order, to give you some percentage opportunity of conflicts.

Todd, by the way, Dropbox Is an awesome way of syncing the info. I understand the use of AEM and can't imagine a better vehicle of communication for what it provides at this time. I'm constantly running and would not want to be tied to syncing when I'm only in my network's wifi. That being said, an automated sync (bi-lateral) would be a desired bullet on my list.

You need to fix the Invoice numbering, for us this MUST be synchronized with the Desktop (Mac or PC) otherwise your application is useless.
