Item Quantity on Hand
I haven't tried the iPad app yet, but I am looking forward to trying it. I have one question regarding the items screen. Does the item screen show item stock on hand number, as of the last sync of course.

Hi Showland,
Currently, AccountEdge Mobile does not sync on hand quantities, account balances, customer/vendor balances etc. anything that could be out of date almost instantly.
This is something we have on our list for future releases,
Great feedback, thanks

What about having a timed sync, say every 15 or 30 minutes, then this wouldn't be a problem.

Hi Steve,
We've had discussions along the same lines, plus we have some other issues to work through to make this viable within inventory.
We're really excited by the feedback we've been getting about AE Mobile, and have great plans for future updates, the challenge is to pick what gets 'next'....

Is there any update to when on hand quantities might be available on AE Mobile? It really is such a critical thing to have access to, especially when on the road at trade shows, etc. Thanks for any info you may have!

Hi Andrea,
I do not have an update on this specific feature request at this time. Pushing 'live' data (quantities, balances, etc.) from AED to AEM poses some obstacles we still have to over come, and we will over come them....
Thanks for your patience,
Todd at Acclivity

I don't really need this as "live" data. If it could be on a timer and update once a day automatically or once an hour, etc that would be fine. I realize that there might be a gap between what I have on my iPad and what is really in the system, but that is not a major problem.

Hi Showland,
I love the idea of timed/automated/customized Sync's on the desktop side. Assuming your computer is live on the internet you could then just refresh your list data in AEM. As for discrepancies of quantities, the fear is we push people into negative inventory situations where they've sold something they don't really have. How we deal with that obstacle is something we have to work through.

What about only updating specific items that have changed and not updating all records?
10 Posted by Todd on 29 Jul, 2011 05:41 PM
In the end, its not so much 'how' we do it but rather the consequences of it.
I am confident we will get there, I just don't know when.

I think his is the most important thing we need on iPad version, when are you going to implement it?
Thanks

Hi Vahe,
Happy to say we are working on this now and just got our first beta build today. Now that 1.7 has gone live, we can focus on 1.8 and item quantities on hand, committed, on order, etc. are part of the plan.

For my application it is imperative. As of now I will have to call the office if there are items of great importance to a customer.

Hi Mark,
AEM 1.8 is now in the approval process and we are awaiting the final word from Apple, should be any day now. This, in conjunction with an update to AccountEdge itself later this week, will allow you to see the qty's on hand of items, as of the last sync, in the item list, item detail views, and item popover screens when creating an item sales transaction....It'll also clean up the item custom fields and custom lists in the item detail window. We're really excited about these features, and look forward to getting them in your hands very shortly.

Mark,
Just realized from your email address that you might be in Canada. The good news is, everything I said above is true, but , this will require an update to AE for our Canadian customers, and that is set for release in early June.
Many of the features added to AEM over the last 3 or 4 versions have required changes to our desktop application, based on the 2012 build. Once AE 2012 ships in Canada, we'll also be updating AEM so all these great new features will be available for you as well, including; item invoices, custom transaction numbers, better sorting, item quantities, etc. Our goal is release AEM 1.9 in conjunction with AEM 2012 so you'll be getting an awesome upgrade for mobile and on the desktop.
Thanks for your patience.....

The good news it that the quantity export works. Yeah! Thanks for getting this done. No if we can just speed up the process. I'm syncing about 23000 items and it takes 2 hours to build the list each time I try the sync, but then again it actually works. The last time I tried this about a year ago, it would crash without finishing. So now at least if I really need the info I can set it to sync at the end of the day.
And for anyone with a much smaller number of products this should be very workable.
Haven't tried it on the iPhone yet, but will report what my results are.

Hi showland,
I'll take the good news, and the bad, that's life in software-land.
The fact that it works with such a large file is good to hear, as we've had less than a handful of reports like that, and our QA folks and developers have been working on getting to the bottom of it. I would love to get an item export file (not the json file, but from AED itself by doing File>Export Data>Items) for us to try it here. Perhaps we can connect off the list and I can arrange for you send me that file.
Also, can you tell me what kind of computer you are using? Be as specific as possible (model, OS, RAM, HD, etc.) and we will try it here and compare it with our test machines.
Thanks for your continued communications and support...

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your time on the phone. I always love speaking to our customers and hearing their story and how much they love our products - you made my day.
Just to recap in case others are reading; You mentioned that it takes about 20 minutes to sync just your items, but that you have 20-40,000 customers, so in total, hearing that it takes 2 hours to write all your files out of AED is not as crazy as it first sounded. As I suggested, perhaps you can change your sync settings to only sync those larger files once in a while, or as new cards/items are added (weekly?) would be a good starting point.
Again, thank for your time and feedback...

Hello, which version of AccountEdge do we need to start using this
functionality, thanks
23 Posted by Todd on 23 Mar, 2012 11:26 AM
Hi Vahe,
You need the version of AED just released this week, the latest US/UK version. At least 16.1.4 or higher

Hi, I'm a 2011 Mac Network Edition user. The item quantities on hand does not function with this version... : (
My question is..If we spend the money to upgrade to 2012 Network Edition, will it function then?
It is a sizable expense considering it is the base user plus additional seats, so we would like to know it will be worth it in advance.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian
Item quantity export is working great for us. The only limiting factor for practical usage is the number of items you have. We have 20000 and it takes bout 20 minutes to sync. I do the sync at the end of the day so this works okay.
